Transportation to DC

Washington, DC is served by three major airports:

• Reagan National (DCA) is the nearest, just across the Potomac River in Arlington, VA. The Washington, DC Metro Subway stops at Reagan National.
• Dulles Airport (IAD) is in suburban VA, ~25 miles from DC.
• Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI) is in suburban Baltimore, ~25 miles from DC.

Many flights are still available from $260-350, roundtrip from southern California airports. (On Sat morning 9/17, Independence Air was showing some $198 seats.)

• Jet Blue Non-stop from Long Beach (LGB) to Dulles (IAD) $276-296 roundtrip
• Southwest Connecting flights only from LAX to DCA or BWI; or from Burbank (BUR) or Ontario (ONT) to BWI $356 roundtrip
• Independence Air Non-stop from LAX/SAN to Dulles (IAD) $198-298 roundtrip
  
• All the others (Delta, American, United, Continental, AirTran, America West, etc) Various non-stops and 1-stops from all LA-Orange Cty-Inland-San Diego area airports to all DC-area airports. Best to search for flights on travel services such as Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz, which generally offer the same deals (and sometimes better) than the individual airline sites.
  

LAX $260-350 roundtrip;
Burbank (BUR) $360-400 roundtrip;
Long Beach (LGB) $290-340 roundtrip;
Orange Cty (SNA) $380-400 roundtrip;
Ontario (ONT) $330-360 roundtrip (into BWI);
San Diego (SAN) $260-320 roundtrip.

Note that it's often more expensive ($25 or more) if you call the airlines directly or use a travel agent, rather than booking online.
